MIAMI PALMETTO EDUCATOR NAMED REGIONAL MIAMI – Juan Carlos Morales, a German teacher at Miami Palmetto Senior High School, was recently named the SCOLT (Southern Conference on Language Teaching) Regional Language Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008. As the southern regional winner, Morales will compete with four other regional candidates from around the country for the 2008 National Language Teacher of the Year award. Candidates will submit a professional portfolio, and a video of their teaching, and take part in a mock press conference. The national winner will be named at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Conference in San Antonio, Texas in November. In addition to teaching German, Morales is an adjunct professor of Japanese and ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) at Miami-Dade College. ### 07-FMN/149/QT |
