PARENTS OF M-DCPS STUDENTS REPORT HIGH SATISFACTION

Miami-Dade County Public Schools recently conducted a survey feedback about the School Board’s policy on parent involvement.  The survey, which was developed by the Office of Program Evaluation and the Office of Community Services, posed 24 questions on topics ranging from home-to-school communication to parenting resources and parent participation in decision making.

Overall more than 90 percent of the responses indicated that parents are satisfied or very satisfied.  When the results from schools served by Title I Administration were considered separately, the results were even higher.  Those schools had a satisfaction rate of 91.53 percent.

The Parent Involvement Benchmark Survey was administered online as well as in a traditional paper format.  The survey was available in English, Spanish and Haitian- Creole.  A total of 10,197 responses were received from an ethnically representative group.  It included more than 9,500 parents, along with approximately 700 who identified themselves as caregivers, community representatives, business representatives or teachers.
