To encourage young readers to spend more time reading. Students will pledge to read daily to increase the power of words in their lives every day and they will listen to excerpts from The Story of Ferdinand. The event is a kick-off to Jumpstart’s 2007 Read for the Record campaign.
The Pearson Foundation underwrote the publication of The Story of Ferdinand, the official campaign book. They and their partners at Nokia donated over 2,000 of these books to teachers at the Reading Rally so that they can help break the world record on September 20th by reading with students in their classrooms.
