TWO MIAMI-DADE SCHOOLS MAKE BLUE RIBBON LIST OF SCHOOLS

MIAMI – George Washington Carver Middle School and Design and Architecture Senior High School (D.A.S.H) were among 287 schools named as 2007 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools.  Carver Middle and D.A.S.H will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on November 12.

The announcement was made today by U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings. “These schools are proving that when we raise the bar our children will rise to the challenge,” Spellings said.  “It takes a lot of hard work by teachers and students to become a Blue Ribbon School, and it’s a privilege to celebrate their great efforts.”

The No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools award, one of the most prestigious education awards in the country, distinguishes and honors schools for helping students achieve at very high levels and for making significant progress in closing the achievement gap.
