LATIN GRAMMY IN THE SCHOOLS TOUR STOPS AT
SOUTH MIAMI SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
The Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and Washington Mutual brought their five-city “Latin GRAMMY in the Schools” tour to South Miami Senior High School earlier today. The event included a panel discussion featuring singer Latin GRAMMY® winner Willy Chirino, 2007 Latin GRAMMY® nominee Alejandra Alberti, Latin Pop Recording Artist Juan Fernando Velasco, and other Latin music recording industry experts. The panel focused on the importance of financial literacy for success.
“It takes more than math to succeed in business. It takes financial literacy,” said Dr. RUDY CREW, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent. “And it takes more than formulas and calculations to give young people the skills and understanding they’ll need to be financially literate. It takes salsa. It takes meréngue. It takes the Latin GRAMMYs and the distinguished panelists who shared their experience and inspiration with our students. I applaud these artists and industry leaders for giving our students a better sense of the world.”
