BARRERA, HANTMAN CHOSEN TO LEAD MIAMI-DADE SCHOOL BOARD

 
MIAMI - School Board Member Agustin J. Barrera was chosen today for the third consecutive year to chair the Miami-Dade County School Board for the coming year.

"It is a true honor to be entrusted with this responsibility by my fellow School Board members.  I will continue to work closely with them and with Vice Chair Perla Tabares Hantman to provide the best education possible for all of the students in the District."

Mr. Barrera was elected to the School Board in 2002 to represent the schools in District 6.  This is his third consecutive year as Board chair.

Eleven-year Board Member Perla Tabares Hantman was selected as Vice Chair. Ms. Hantman, who represents District 4, has previously served as Vice Chair and also once served as Board chair for three consecutive years.
