12 Miami-Dade Public Schools Make
Newsweek’s List Of
Top High Schools In The Nation
MIAMI – Twelve Miami-Dade County public schools earned their way onto Newsweek magazine’s List of America’s Top High Schools. Miami-Dade’s public high schools that made the list are Coral Reef, Design & Architecture, MAST Academy, Miami Palmetto, School for Advanced Studies, Coral Gables, Mater Academy Charter, Miami Killian, New World School of the Arts, South Miami, American and Southwest Miami.
Public high schools were ranked according to a ratio devised by Jay Mathews of Newsweek Magazine: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2007 divided by the number of graduating seniors. All of the schools on the list have an index of at least 1.000; they are in the top five percent of public schools measured this way.
