M-DCPS LEADS COUNTRY IN AP SCORES FOR HISPANIC STUDENTS


(MIAMI)-Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) leads the country in Advanced Placement (AP) exam scores among Hispanic students according to national College Board reports.

M-DCPS ranks first in the nation in three categories including, the number of Hispanic AP exam scores of three or above, the number of individual Hispanic students scoring three or above, as well as the total number of AP exams taken by Hispanic students. Miami-Dade is also seventh in the country in African American/Black AP exam scores of 3 or above.

“These findings demonstrate that our students are responding positively to a rigorous curriculum and technology-based education that has enhanced their learning experience,” said Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho. “Miami-Dade County Public Schools is proud to be in the forefront of public school innovation.”

In addition, M-DCPS dominated the national top ten school rankings of Hispanic AP scores of three and above with an astounding six schools. They include:

  • Coral Reef Senior High School (#2)
  • Miami Palmetto Senior High School (#3)
  • Southwest Miami Senior High School (#4)
  • Coral Gables Senior High School (#5)
  • Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School (#6)
  • Miami Coral Park Senior High School (#8)

The College Board promotes high-quality education for all students through college readiness, college connection and success, and advocacy. AP courses are college-level courses and exams that allow high school students to earn college credit and advanced placement.
