MIAMI-DADE SCHOOL BOARD TO WELCOME ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING ACTRESS, UNVEIL REMARKABLE PROGRESS IN JUVENILE JUSTICE
The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida will address several newsworthy items at its monthly meeting today, including:
- New figures showing a 60 percent decrease in juvenile justice referrals by Miami-Dade Schools Police;
- A partnership with a foundation founded by an Academy Award-winning actress, who will be present for the discussion (approximately 5 p.m.) and
- Finalization of contracts with three labor organizations, representing more than 99 percent of the school district’s personnel, on a new health benefits plan.
Additionally, School Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman will present the 2012 State of the School System address.
