HIALEAH GARDENS SENIOR HIGH NAMED A
GRAMMY® FOUNDATION SIGNATURE SCHOOLS

Hialeah Gardens Senior High School is one of 18 U.S. public schools to be selected as a GRAMMY® Signature School for 2012. Hialeah Gardens High was a recipient of the Grammy Signature Schools Enterprise Award category, which recognized the efforts made by 11 schools that are economically underserved.  Hialeah Gardens won a $5,500 grant to benefit its music program.

The GRAMMY Signature Schools program was created in 1998 and recognizes top U.S. public high schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year.

The selection process for GRAMMY Signature Schools begins each year in August when the GRAMMY Foundation reviews the applications of more than 20,000 public high schools.  A rigorous judging takes place with a final review conducted by an independent screening committee to determine schools that merit Signature School status.

The Hialeah Gardens music program is in its fourth year has grown from 25 students to more than 150 musicians. The marching band received superior ratings at the 2010 and 2011 Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Music Performance Assessment. The Wind Orchestra most recently received its first overall superior rating last month at the Florida Bandmasters Association District Concert Music Performance Assessment.
