Xavier Cortada, Artist in Residence at Florida International University, smiles as Sweetwater Elementary School students plant a tree as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Earth Day Observance. Sweetwater Elementary School commemorated Earth Day and launched the Green School Guide with a special event. In addition, 30 trees were given to students to take home. The Green School Guide offers guidelines and strategies for a school to become green.
