CORAL REEF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT NAMED STATE WINNER
OF DOODLE 4 GOOGLE

Walker Paulsen, a senior at Coral Reef Senior High School, has been selected as the Florida winner of Doodle 4 Google. Representatives from Google presented him with his award on May 2 at the school. Walker will be attending Ringling College of Art and Design in the fall.

Doodle 4 Google is a competition open to K-12 students of U.S. schools to create their own Google doodle. This year’s theme for the doodles is "If I could travel in time, I’d visit…" Out of 114,000 applications, there were only 50 state winners.

Most companies take their corporate logo seriously and while Google does too, they also take fun seriously. The combination of the two is what they have come to refer to as a "doodle." There have been over 1000 doodles for their homepages around the world celebrating characters from Big Bird to Batman. Some doodles run globally (across all the Google homepages) and others are specific to just one country.

The winner will be selected in New York City on May 17 and awards include scholarship money to attend college.  A national winner will be selected from among the 50 state winners using online voting.  The deadline to vote is May 16.  To vote for Walker visit:  http://www.google.com/doodle4google/vote.html#d=d5-3
