M-DCPS ENTERS INTO AGREEMENT WITH TOWN OF CUTLER BAY

The School Board of Miami-Dade County recently voted to approve an Interlocal Agreement with the Town of Cutler Bay. The Agreement establishes a funding collaboration to implement the reconfiguration of Cutler Ridge and Centennial middle schools into a Grade 6-12 Academy, and to establish a Cambridge program with a focus on three academies: Environmental Sciences (COAST), a magnet program that will be expanded through grade 12; Liberal Arts; and iPrep.

As part of the Agreement, Cutler Bay will make an up-front capital and programmatic investment of approximately $2.75 million in year one to build state-of-the-art science labs at Centennial and to solidify its role as the Upper Academy campus.

Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, incoming sixth grade students residing in the Cutler Ridge or Centennial boundaries will attend Cutler Ridge Middle, now known as the Lower Academy, and Centennial, the Upper Academy, will welcome its first incoming class of ninth graders.
