SOUTHWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL RAISES MORE THAN $20,000 FOR CHARITY

Southwood Middle School students, parents, staff, PTSA and interested community members gathered on May 23, 2012 for The Walk for Kaely Camacho. The event raised $21,291 for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), making it the highest grossing one-day school event in local M.A.D.D. history.

The one-hour walk-a-thon was in honor of Kaely Camacho, an 8th grade Southwood Middle School student whose life was taken by an alleged impaired driver this past April. The event also included an outdoor assembly and tree-planting ceremony.
