M-DCPS TO OFFER SUMMER WAVES OF LEARNING, JULY 5 - AUGUST 1

Registration is now open for Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ 2012 Summer Waves of Learning, an innovative assortment of educational offerings. General operational dates are July 5 - August 1 for elementary and middle school students. Some offerings will have an alternative schedule.

The Summer Waves of Learning program offers three distinct but interrelated learning waves that address the academic needs of students at all grade levels through both traditional and virtual learning offerings.

The learning waves include the R-Learning Wave, which helps students who need remediation in core areas or recovery of failed coursework or assessments. The C-Learning Wave allows students to continue learning skills in order to compensate for losing any knowledge over the summer break and the E-Learning Wave gives students access to electronic web-based educational programs and external educational services.

Elementary and middle school students may register at any open summer center through July 6.  If the home school is not an open summer center, students may register at the home school through June 7. Senior high students who plan to co-enroll for Adult Education summer courses must be enrolled and in class by June 18.
