SOUTH MIAMI GRAD RECEIVES ‘DO THE RIGHT THING’ SCHOLARSHIP

David Celis, a recent graduate from South Miami Senior High, was the recipient of the Angel Calzadilla/ “Do The Right Thing” Police Memorial Scholarship. The Angel Calzadilla/ “Do The Right Thing” Police Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Senior Police Executive Calzadilla, a well regarded officer who succumbed to a lifelong private struggle with cystic fibrosis at the age of 48.  “Do The Right Thing”, known for recognizing and rewarding area youths for their positive behavior and actions, offers the scholarship annually to one graduating senior.  The scholarship will cover full tuition plus additional expenses totaling $6,000 to attend the City of Miami Police Training Center in downtown Miami.
