SUPERINTENDENT ALBERTO CARVALHO WELCOMES APPROXIMATELY 350
NEW TEACHERS TO SCHOOL DISTRICT

MIAMI – Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho welcomed 350 new teachers to the school district today at an orientation held at Miami Jackson Senior High School.

“You are the dream makers,” Carvalho told the audience of new recruits. “You will inspire your students with all the respect and reverence that they deserve.”

Carvalho informed the teachers that many students in the district live in poverty and informed the new teachers that, “It is your responsibility to lift them up and speak up for them. You, the dream makers, will be the ones who break the cycle of poverty.”

Miami Jackson was a perfect venue for the Superintendent to welcome new teachers; Carvalho began his career with the school district as a physics teacher at that school.
