SCHOOL BOARD VOTES TO STUDY DISTRICT’S PROCUREMENT PRACTICES

At its regular monthly meeting, the School Board voted to investigate the feasibility of conducting a disparity study to analyze the District’s procurement practices including an examination of whether any disparities exist in the utilization of minority/women-owned businesses on District contracts.

Based on recent meetings with members of the Minority/Women’s Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Advisory Committee, upcoming procurement policy development will include M/WBE Committee input and consider tiered contracting options, business ownership and size criteria, architect/engineer selection and location-based contract awards.

The results obtained from a disparity study would serve to guide development of policies that actively promotes diversity and business practices that set goals for M/WBE participation.

An independent company will conduct the feasibility study.
