Consulate Secretary Bruno Assunção holds the school flag next to Consulate Secretary Fernando Mendonça de Magalhães Arruda from the Consulate of Brazil while Carmen M. Garcia, principal of Ada Merritt K-8 Center sets the Order of Rio Branco on the flag. The flag was presented to the school by the Brazilian Government through Ambassador Hélio Vitor Ramos F., Consul General of Brazil in Miami (pictured at right). The Order was presented to thank the school for furthering the studies and understanding of the Portuguese language and culture.
