M-DCPS STUDENTS SHOW PROGRESS ON COLLEGE BOARD SAT

The College Board SAT results were released today and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) students recorded several accomplishments:

  • A record high number of M-DCPS’ graduating seniors (58 percent) participated in the SAT in 2012, and the mean scores increased in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.

  • Students from 63 M-DCPS schools participated in the SAT, with mean scores in nearly a quarter of the locations exceeding statewide means in Reading and Mathematics.

  • In comparison to the nation, students’ mean scores in 13 M-DCPS senior high schools were higher than the national average in Reading, 11 schools’ means were higher in Writing, and 10 were higher in Mathematics.

  • The district’s diverse student body fared well, with Hispanic students’ mean scores higher than the state in reading and writing, and larger increases in these same areas for Black students.
