CORAL REEF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND SCHOOL DISTRICT WORK WITH
MIAMI-DADE HEALTH DEPARTMENT FOLLOWING STUDENT DEATH

Coral Reef Senior High School and Miami-Dade County Public Schools are working closely with the Miami-Dade Health Department following the death of a student from meningococcal disease at a local hospital.

Procedures are being followed to safeguard the health of students at the school.  Health Department letters are being sent to the families of students to make them aware of the symptoms of the disease, and to encourage prompt medical attention if necessary.

The Health Department has clarified that this illness is not related to the fungal meningitis that has been reported recently in the news media.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Student Services Crisis Management Team has been notified and will respond to the school as needed.
