Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Division of Bilingual Education and World Languages announces iWorld!, a small community of iLearners and iEducators that provides global access through differentiated learning for recently arrived, foreign-born secondary ESOL immigrant students. Funded by Title III, the program is a collaborative partnership with Pearson Education.

The program trains ESOL teachers to use iPads to teach reading and to use their E-Text and Apps to provide content tutorial support and instruction. Students will attend a two-day conference style training called iSummit.  Pearson has customized training for ESOL students to learn how to use the iPads to become digital learners.

Eligible students were selected from the following feeder patterns: North Miami Senior, Westland Hialeah Senior, Hialeah Gardens Senior, South Miami Senior, Coral Gables Senior and Miami Coral Park Senior.

iWorld! Implementation begins January 2013.
