SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES STUDENTS EARN COVETED NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The School for Advanced Studies (SAS) has the distinction of having two prestigious QuestBridge Scholars. The students received the scholarships from California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). The university only selected three students nationwide for the coveted scholarship.

Carlos Gonzalez from SAS North Campus and David Peña from SAS Kendall Campus will each receive a scholarship at Cal Tech that covers the full cost of tuition, room and board It is typically valued at $200,000 or more. Additionally, QuestBridge will pay for two trips home to Miami from California each year during the course of the scholarship.

The QuestBridge National College Match helps outstanding high school seniors gain admission to some of the nation's most selective colleges on a full, four-year, all-expenses paid scholarship. QuestBridge works with more than 33 partner colleges including Cal Tech, a private university near Los Angeles, which is considered to be the MIT of the west. Cal Tech is ranked in the top 10 universities in the U.S. according to the latest rankings by U.S. News and World Report.

The School for Advanced Studies is a nationally recognized high school of excellence located on four campuses of Miami Dade College (Homestead, Kendall, North and Wolfson). SAS was recently honored by Newsweek magazine as the 12th Best High School in the United States and typically sends its graduates to the top universities across the country.
