STAFF MEMBER FROM THE ENGLISH CENTER RECEIVED
PREMIO A LA EXCELENCIA 2012 AWARD

Alfonso Palacio, a staff member at The English Center, was honored by the Miami-Dade Health Department during their event: The Iniciativa Hispana Premios a la Excelencia 2012 celebrated last week.
 
Palacio was honored by members of Community Based Organizations under The Iniciativa Hispana to highlight these community leaders for their hard work and dedication. Palacio was selected from among other members of the community for coordinating The English Center’s Health Fair.  His efforts have produced an increase in community awareness among Hispanics to be tested for HIV as part of the school’s Health Initiatives with the Hispanic community. The event was sponsored by Alex Marytrini, Solare Coliseum and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
