THREE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO REPRESENT FLORIDA AT ODYSSEY OF THE MIND WORLD FINALS

Three teams from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) earned the right to represent the state of Florida on an international level as they advanced to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition at the Florida State Tournament.

Odyssey of the Mind is the world's largest international educational problem solving competition for students. Teams from throughout the U.S. and more than 25 countries participate in the program.  Odyssey fosters creative thinking skills in students through problem solving activities.

The three teams that will travel to World Finals at Michigan State University from May 22-25, 2013 are:
• Howard Drive Elementary - 2nd Place - ARTchitecture: The Musical - Div. I
• David Lawrence, Jr. K-8 Center - 2nd Place - It's How You Look At It - Div. II
• Palmetto Middle - 3rd Place/Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award - Pet Project - Div. II

The Palmetto Middle School team won the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award which qualified them to advance to the World Finals. The award is presented to teams that display creativity at competitions.
