CAP, INC. TO AWARD 300 SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS FOR COLLEGE, JULY 29

Three hundred students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) will file into the Biltmore Hotel’s Country Club Ballroom at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, July 29, to be awarded “last dollar” College Assistance Program (CAP), Inc. grants to attend college. The Biltmore is located at 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables.

WLPG-Channel 10 News Anchor Carlos Suarez will host CAP Inc. Grant Night 2014.  Featured speakers include Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, CAP Inc. President Xavier Martinez, and BNY Mellon Wealth Management Director Jonathan Soto.

Founded by the former and longest-serving Miami-Dade School Board member, G. Holmes Braddock, in collaboration with M-DCPS’ Division of Student Services and the Dade Community Foundation, CAP, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting diverse, multicultural, and economically disadvantaged M-DCPS graduates, who have exhausted all available means of financial assistance.  CAP, Inc. allows them to attend the college of their choice through “last dollar” grant assistance.

Since 1979, CAP, Inc. has been working in collaboration with M-DCPS to provide millions of dollars in grant scholarships to students. Over the years, more than 14,000 students have received $12 million or more in grants.
