WHY:

Fernando Jones’ Blues Camp Miami provides a nurturing environment for youth ages 12-18 from across the country to foster an appreciation and love of the Blues by professional instructors. The camp culminates with a free concert on Friday, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. at Miami Dade College-Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. 2nd Ave. in Building 1, Auditorium, where students will be able to showcase their talent. Musician and music professor Fernando Jones founded The Blues Kids Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization to preserve, perform and promote the Blues among America's youth, parents and educators. The organization focuses on education, literacy and music. This year, there were six blues camps, including the first international Blues Camp in London.
