UHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER AT MIAMI JACKSON HIGH TO OPEN, AUG. 18

Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho received a physical exam today at the UHealth Medical Center at Miami Jackson Senior High School, which opens Monday, August 18, to all employees, their dependents and retirees who are currently enrolled in the school district’s insurance plan.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) partnered with UHealth-University of Miami Health System to provide a medical home for its employees with quality care at affordable prices. Some co-payments will be as low as $10. The center is staffed by a University of Miami physician, a nurse practitioner and nursing staff, who will provide lab services, physicals, nursing support, wellness education and direct referrals to UM specialists.

"We want our employees, their families and retirees to realize the importance of preventive care. The affordable prices, central location and convenient hours of operation will allow them to take full advantage of this great facility," said Carvalho.

The center’s hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Appointments can be made online or by calling 305-243-CANE (2263). Walk-in visits are welcome. Patients must bring their Cigna ID card.
