SMALL & MINORITY BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY ON MAST ACADEMY PROJECT

Miami-Dade County Public Schools, in partnership with Pirtle Construction, has released an invitation for subcontractors to bid on work at MAST Academy.  This is a year-one project approved under the General Obligation Bond (GOB) approved by voters for renovating facilities, updating technology, building school replacements, expanding student capacity, and enhancing facility safety.

“This project provides a great opportunity for Miami-Dade small and minority businesses.  I encourage local businesses to take advantage of this chance to expand their business and support our local schools,” says Brian A. Williams, Economic Development Officer.

This project has an $18 million construction budget and has a mandatory minimum utilization requirement for SBE and M/WBE (certified by M-DCPS only) as follows: SBE-15 percent, African American-18 percent and Woman-6 percent. The project also has a local workforce utilization requirement of 10 percent for targeted zip codes.

The GOB is expected to create 9,200 jobs during its initial three years and more than 18,000 sustainable jobs during the course of construction.  This is a substantial opportunity for local small, micro and Minority/Women’s Business Enterprise (M/WBE) firms to receive work in the community.

To become certified by M-DCPS for this project, please contact the Office of Economic Opportunity at 305-995-1307 or visit our website at oeo.dadeschools.net.

All bidders must be pre-qualified with Pirtle Construction Company prior to the bid due date. If not previously pre-qualified, please submit a Pirtle Construction Company Pre-qualification form for review. The first step for pre-qualification can be found at www.pirtleconstruction.com. The deadline to submit sealed bids is Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 by no later than 2:00 p.m.
