M-DCPS ANNOUNCES FIRST-OF-ITS KIND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH NAACP, HBIF, FLORIDA SBDC MIAMI— The Miami-Dade County School Board and Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho will form a strategic partnership with the NAACP Miami-Dade Branch, the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund and the Florida Small Business Development Center Network focusing on economic and business development, job creation and contracts for Miami-Dade businesses. “Miami-Dade County Public Schools is proud to work with these organizations and provide potential contract opportunities to local businesses on construction, goods and services and the recent voter approved $1.2 billion bond projects to renovate schools and upgrade technology,” said Superintendent Carvalho. “This partnership is a win-win as we work to increase the number of small, minority and women-owned businesses in our local community.” “I am excited to work with these organizations that truly impact small, minority and women-owned businesses in Miami-Dade County,” said Brian Williams, Economic Development Officer for the District. “Our goal is to increase the number of firms doing business with M-DCPS and eventually lead to successful contracts with the District.” The Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) promotes the economic development and growth of Small, Micro and Minority businesses through its certification program, community outreach programs, contract review and monitoring activities.
