M-DCPS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN TEN80 EDUCATION STEM CHALLENGE & EXPO

Ten80 Education National STEM League (NSL) Invitational and Expo

WHY:

More than 500 students from 15 Miami-Dade County public high schools will be competing all year to win an invitation to the 2015 National STEM League Finals in Charlotte, NC, where they will test their skills against more than 30 teams from around the country. Last year, TERRA and Miami Springs high school students brought home top awards from the 2014 NSL Finals.

Participating high schools include American, Booker T. Washington, Carol City, Coral Gables, G. Holmes Braddock, Hialeah Gardens, iTech@ Thomas Edison Ed. Center, Jose Marti MAST Academy, Miami Beach, Miami Springs, North Miami, Robert Morgan Ed. Center, TERRA Environmental, and Maritime and Science Technology (MAST) Academy.

The students’ mental, emotional and physical abilities will be put to the test as they work in teams to collaborate, create and compete in project categories that include: racing, engineering design and fabrication, computer-driven innovation, and sustainable transportation through renewable energies.
