M-DCPS PROVIDES FREE FLU MIST TO STUDENTS,
“TEACH FLU A LESSON” INITIATIVE

WHO: 

Miami-Dade Public County Schools (M-DCPS) in partnership with Healthy Schools, LLC and the Department of Health in Miami-Dade, students, and nurses

WHAT:

Teach Flu a Lesson Initiative: Flu immunizations or flu mist, will be administered by Healthy Schools’ nurses free of charge to students with parental consent at every participating school.

WHEN:

Monday, December 8 through Monday, December 15
7:20 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., depending on school schedules

WHERE:

Participating schools, 169 M-DCPS facilities

WHY:

Every year, thousands of children miss valuable school days because of the influenza virus. Offering flu vaccinations in the school setting has proven to be effective in preventing disease and reducing absenteeism. M-DCPS has partnered with Healthy Schools, LLC and the Department of Health in Miami-Dade to ensure all resources needed are available to provide the flu mist at no cost.
