SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES GOB PROJECTS VALUED OVER $45 MILLION MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Public Schools $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond (GOB) program overwhelmingly approved by voters in November 2012 is moving full steam ahead with the recent commissioning of three construction management companies and an architecture/engineering firm for projects at several Miami-Dade public schools. At its February meeting, the School Board commissioned MCM, Turner Construction, D. Stephenson Construction, and Silva Architects, LLC for four school construction projects that include additional classroom space at two schools to facilitate their conversion to K-8, as well as building and classroom remodeling and renovations across the board at all four schools including HVAC system replacement, covered walkways, site improvements, interior improvements such as new flooring, lighting, and safety and security upgrades. The total combined GOB investment for projects at the schools exceeds $45 million. The chart below provides information regarding the commissioned firms:
