MIAMI-DADE SUSPENDS FSA ELA WRITING EXAM FOR STUDENTS
IN GRADES 8-10

Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho has decided to suspend computer-based testing for students in grades 8, 9, and 10 tomorrow, March 3, 2015. Early this morning, districts across the state began experiencing a slowdown in the state testing platform, preventing many students in Miami-Dade and across the state from successfully logging in. The Florida Department of Education still has not provided districts with assurances of the stability of the testing environment for the FSA ELA/writing test. As such, M-DCPS has suspended all computer based tests for grades 8, 9, and 10 until the state can assure us of the stability of the testing platform.

“Being prudent and respectful of the instructional time already lost, as well as the fact that students and teachers have gone home for the day, I am suspending computer-based testing for tomorrow. It is disappointing that the level of readiness by the state did not match the preparedness of our students and teachers,” said Carvalho.
