M-DCPS RECEIVES $55,000 GRANT FROM WELLS FARGO

At today’s School Board meeting, Miami-Dade County Public Schools received a check for $55,000 as a gift from Wells Fargo stores working through their Community Connections Program. “School and business partnerships are essential to public education,” said Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho. “Businesses invest in communities when they invest in education. The support and involvement of private sector organizations like Wells Fargo contribute to academic enrichment initiatives that prepare our students for success in the classroom and eventually success in the global workforce.”

Every year, each of the Wells Fargo stores and their business banking teams are given a $1,000 grant to choose a non-profit or school of their choice to receive the gift. This year, 55 Miami-Dade County public schools were chosen as recipients of the gift amount, totaling $55,000.

“We are proud to support M-DCPS with this grant,” said Wells Fargo South Florida Regional President Joe Atkinson. “At Wells Fargo, we are committed to supporting programs and organizations that we believe are important to the development of our communities, strengthening their vitality and their chances of success.”

This year, Wells Fargo will award more than $600,000 in grants to over 600 non-profit organizations and schools throughout Florida. The grants are part of the company’s broader support of its communities. In 2014, Wells Fargo invested more than $11 million in non-profit organizations and schools and their team members volunteered 85,000 hours in our state.
