M-DCPS TO GRADUATE OVER 21,000 STUDENTS, MORE THAN 90 PERCENT
PLAN TO ATTEND COLLEGE

MIAMI - Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) will hold senior high school graduations between May 27 and June 4, 2015.

Over 21,000 graduating seniors from more than 50 high schools across the district will receive their high school diplomas and continue their educational pursuits at post-secondary institutions in Florida and across the nation. According to school district data, an impressive 93.67 percent of M-DCPS graduating seniors plan to attend college. Many graduating seniors have already begun their college education earning an Associate in Arts degree through dual-enrollment programs, which allow them to enroll in college courses for credit prior to high school graduation. Additionally, this year, scholarships totaling more than $310 million dollars have been awarded to the district’s college-bound seniors.

“We are extremely proud of our graduating seniors for all of their hard work and determination,” said Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho. “Over the next week, we will celebrate the milestone our students have accomplished and will also send them off to a new chapter in their lives. We are always very thankful to our teachers and families for the guidance and support they provide to graduates.”
