MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE IN ROBOTICS

Four Miami-Dade County Public Schools will compete in "Mayhem in
Miami," the 2nd Annual Florida Invitational Robotics Championship on
Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at FIU's
Golden Panther Arena, 11200 S.W. 8 St. Teams from Dr. Michael M.
Krop Senior High, MAST Academy, Miami Coral Park Senior High, and
North Miami Beach Senior High will participate.
The competition is held in conjunction with FIRST, a non-profit
organization whose mission is to generate an interest in science and
engineering among today's youth. Student teams have six weeks to
build robots from a provided set of materials. Competitions are held
each year at the local, regional and national levels. Miami-Dade
County's public schools have competed and placed at all levels.
