Miami-Dade County’s public schools will be open during tomorrow’s expected community-wide show of support for Elian Gonzalez.

Principals and other administrators will follow established School Board procedures to handle any contingencies. Teachers will be encouraged to lead students in educational discussions on Elian’s case.

“We have here a teachable moment, the perfect opportunity for our students to learn about civics, democracy and the branches of government,” Superintendent Roger C. Cuevas said.
