Miami-Dade County Public Schools and SunTrust/Miami N.A. will host the 12th Annual “Thumbs Up” awards ceremony Tuesday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m., at the Radisson Centre, 777 N.W. 72 Avenue.

“Thumbs Up” is a motivational program in elementary and secondary schools that encourages students with learning disabilities to aim toward higher academic achievement and improved behavior.

Certificates of recognition and medals will be awarded at the program to students who have made significant progress during the school year. The “Top Gun Award” will be presented to two exemplary students, one from an elementary. school and the other from a middle or secondary school. Computers will be donated to the winners' schools in their names.
