D.A. Dorsey Educational Center, 7100 N.W. 17 Avenue, will sponsor a town meeting titled Vision 2000, on Tuesday, November 16, at 10 a.m. to celebrate community education. Presentations on topics of local interest will include: Federal and Public Housing, the Empowerment Zone, Health and Wellness, and Legislative Issues.

Community and business leaders, lawmakers, local representatives and educators are expected to participate.

The town meeting is held in conjunction with "Turn on the Lights 2000," an event celebrating community education in public schools. The turning on of lights symbolizes that community schools remain open from early morning to late at night and are available on weekends, holidays and vacations to reach out and inform the community that learning is lifelong. "Turn on the Lights 2000" is cosponsored by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami-Dade Coalition for Community Education, the National Community Education Association and America Goes Back To School.

For more information about the town meeting, contact the school's principal, Rose Martin, at 305-693-2490.
