Dr. Reggie K. Brooks, Sr., who worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. during the beginning of the civil rights movement, will
deliver a motivational message to students and staff of Allapattah
Middle School at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, April 30.
Currently the director of Minority Student Services at Penn State
University, Dr. Brooks is the co-founder and former president of the
Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute in Dallas. A lifetime member of
both the N.A.A.C.P. and the National Urban League, he has been a
keynote speaker at N.A.A.C.P. conventions. His presentation will
focus on the history of the civil rights movement as well as the
importance of taking advantage of educational opportunities and a
postsecondary education.
