DR. NAOMI TUTU CELEBRATES DR. KING’S LEGACY AT 500 ROLE MODELS EVENT

Dr. Naomi Tutu will be the keynote speaker at the 500 Role Models of Excellence Project's Seventh Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Scholarship Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in the Hotel Inter-Continental, 100 Chopin Plaza, Downtown Miami.

Dr. Tutu, daughter of Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu, is the program coordinator for the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn.

Presented by American Airlines and AT&T, the breakfast will be co-hosted by NBC6 reporters Ed O'Dell and Willard Sheppard. The event is the only fund-raiser for the Role Models project, which awards college scholarships to hundreds of students each year. Featured guests include Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas, City of Miami Mayor Joe Carollo and Casual Cal DuPree, founder and ringmaster of UniverSoul Circus.
