April 21, 2000

Internationally reknowned megasavant Kim Peek will deliver the keynote address at Linking Forces IX, the Ninth Annual Children's Mental Health Conference, from 9 to 10 a.m. on May 4, at the Wyndham Miami-Biscayne Bay Hotel, 1601 Biscayne Boulevard. Following his presentation, Peek will proceed to Miami Palmetto Senior High School, 7460 S.W. 18 St., where he is scheduled to speak to 200 students.

Peek was the inspiration for Barry Morrow's Academy Award-winning film "Rain Man." Fetal brain damage affected some of his motor sensors, but gifted him with remarkable intellectual abilities. He is known for his total recall capabilities and vast knowledge of numerous subjects.

Linking Forces IX will be hosted by Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Office of Exceptional Student Education and Psychological Services, Multiagency Network for Students with Severe Emotional Disturbance.

For more information, contact Dr. Henry C. Sterner, Project Manager, at 305-598-2436.
