TWELFTH-GRADE OPTIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES
July 3, 2003
High school seniors who were unable to pass the Florida
Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) now have the option to
obtain help through Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Adult
and Vocational Education Program. Students will receive
intensive instruction available through a fast track
approach to improve future educational opportunities.
Free FCAT remediation training is available in a classroom
setting or online at www.tecmiami.com/TLC. Earning a GED
(General Educational Development) is another option for
those who did not pass the FCAT. GED Preparation also is
available at any of the district's 22 adult/vocational
education centers. Some 15,485 students are expected to
enroll this summer in high school completion courses, which
run from July 7 through Aug. 15.
High demand technical/vocational training also is available
in Agriscience, Business Technology Education, Family and
Consumer Sciences, Health Science Education and Industrial
Education programs for students preparing for entry-level
positions.
