FOOD SERVICES EMPLOYEE WINS AFSCME EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
AWARD
December 3, 2003
Dianne Carruth, food service manager at Ruth K. Broad Bay
Harbor Elementary School, won the Employee of the Year award
from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal
Employees (AFSCME) last month. She received $1,000 and
plaques from AFSCME and the Dade Association of School
Administrators.
Flossie Willis, a field operations specialist at the
Southwest Regional Transportation Center, was the runner up.
She received $500 and a plaque.
"My congratulations go out to Ms. Carruth, Ms. Willis and
the other nominees," said Superintendent of Schools Merrett
R. Stierheim. "The school system is grateful for their hard
work and dedication."
The other finalists were: Joyce A. Wright of Charles R. Drew
Middle School, Harold L. Williams of the South Central
Satellite Center, and Fernando Castrillon of Glades Middle
School. They each received $250 and a plaque.
