COMCAST EMPLOYEES TO HELP BEAUTIFY CAROL CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, OCT. 4

September 30, 2003

More than 500 Comcast employees are expected to join 800 parents to help beautify Carol City Elementary School on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school is located at 4375 N.W. 173 Drive.

A kick-off program will start the day with a welcome by Principal Claudia Hessing and speeches by local dignitaries. Scheduled activities include sprucing up the appearance of the school as well as a reading fair for students. Steve Burk, president of the cable television provider, will be inducted into the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project by Sen. Frederica Wilson and School Board Vice Chair Robert B. Ingram. Kennedy Space Center Acting Deputy Director of External Relations and Business Development Pam Biegart will be on hand to help kick off Carol City Elementary's NASA Explorer Schools partnership.

Comcast Cares Day is a national event in which as many as 25,000 Comcast employees participate in community projects. The Carol City Elementary School project marks the first time Miami-Dade Comcast employees will participate; some of them have children who attend the school.
