EXHIBIT, PERFORMANCES MARK HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAYS IN MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

April 25, 2003

A series of observances in Miami-Dade County's public schools will commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Days.

A public exhibition titled "Anne Frank: A History for Today" will be on display in the lobby of the School Board Administration Building, 1450 N.E. 2 Ave., from Monday, April 28th, through Thursday, May 8th. Designed by the curators of the Anne Frank Center U.S.A. in New York City, the exhibition tells Anne Frank's story and the history of the Holocaust through the testimony of contemporary witnesses.

Also beginning Monday, April 28th, a theatrical program, "Living Voices-Anne Frank" will be presented in more than 30 schools. The program also will be held in the auditorium of the School Board Administration Building at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6th.

Other events commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Days have included a lecture, "Women in the Holocaust - Portraits of Courage," and a seminar to train the district's social studies teachers in the history of the Holocaust.

All of the observances are being coordinated by Dr. Miriam Klein Kassenoff, Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Education Specialist for Holocaust Studies. Dr. Kassenoff survived the Holocaust as a small child, when her father escaped a Hungarian labor camp and led his family on a six-month odyssey around Europe to escape from the Nazis.
