M-DCPS STUDENT ADVANCES TO NATIONAL SCIENCE COMPETITION

Bryan A. Lemus, a senior at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School, has been named one of 40 national finalists of the Intel Science Talent Search. He will receive $5,000, a laptop computer and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., where he will compete for one of five top honors.

A former ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) student, Bryan hopes to focus his studies on molecular genetics. His research project is titled "A Transgenic Screening Approach to the Development of Arabidopsis Mutants Deficient in the Synthesis of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase Kinase."
