KENDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO SHOWCASE AWARD-WINNING MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

October 22, 2003

Honored recently as one of Florida's best-run organizations, Miami-Dade's Kendale Elementary School will hold an open house and best practices conference for state and local leaders Friday, Oct. 24, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m, to showcase the school's management practices.

Kendale's principal and staff agreed to share their winning ways when they accepted the Governor's Sterling Award last May from the Florida Sterling Council, a state agency affiliated with the governor's office that is devoted to enhancing Florida's competitive edge by encouraging performance excellence.

Located at 10693 SW 93 St., Kendale was one of four organizations statewide and the only school to earn the award this year.

The open house will feature a keynote speech by Javier Hernandez-Lichtl, chief administrative officer for Baptist Health-South Florida; remarks by Merrett R. Stierhiem, Miami-Dade's superintendent of schools; and sessions on innovations in strategic planning, customer focus, data management, human resources, process management and school leadership.

For more information, call Kendale's principal, Kristine Dittmar, at 305-274-2735.
