TWO SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS APPOINTED TO COMMITTEE TO TRACK CONSTRUCTION FUNDS

August 28, 2003

Two Miami-Dade School Board Members, Perla Tabares Hantman, District 4, and Agustin J. Barrera, District 6, have been appointed to an advisory committee to track Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) funds held in reserve and to recommend ways to streamline time and costs associated with school facilities' construction. Schools Superintendent Merrett R. Stierheim will serve as an alternate committee member.

PECO funds are a primary source of state capital outlay funding for Florida's state-supported schools that pay for new construction projects, remodeling, renovation, repair and site improvement of educational facilities.
